How much of an Etsy sale do you actually keep? This calculator takes off every Etsy fee – listing fee, transaction fee, payment processing, Offsite Ads and, if it applies to you, VAT on those fees. Then it adds your materials, packaging, postage and your time. You see your profit, your real hourly rate and the lowest price you should charge.
It starts with a US example. Pick the country of your bank account, enter your own numbers and you are done. No account needed, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

Etsy fees in 2026 at a glance
Etsy takes its fees straight from your payment account. Keep in mind: almost every percentage fee applies to the full order total including shipping, not just the item price.
| Fee | Amount | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 per listing | every listing and renewal; with multiple quantities again after each item sells |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | item price + shipping + gift wrap |
| Payment processing | United States: 3% + $0.25 United Kingdom: 4% + £0.20 Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia: 4% + €0.30 Switzerland: 4% + CHF 0.50 Serbia: 6.5% + $0.30 | order total including shipping and tax, flat amount per order |
| Offsite Ads | 15% under $10,000 in sales over 365 days (you can opt out), otherwise 12% (mandatory); capped at $100 per order | order total including shipping, only for sales from an Etsy ad outside Etsy |
| Regulatory operating fee | only in some countries, e.g. France 1.14%, Spain 0.88%, Italy 0.80%, United Kingdom 0.48%; none in the US, Germany, Austria or Switzerland | item price + shipping |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | only if you list in a different currency than your payment account |
| VAT on fees | Etsy fees are net amounts. In the UK and most EU countries, VAT is added unless you have given Etsy a VAT ID. | all Etsy fees |
Example: a $20 item in the United States
You sell an item for $20 and charge $5 shipping. The buyer pays $25. Etsy keeps a $0.20 listing fee, a $1.63 transaction fee and $1.00 for payment processing – $2.83 in total. With $5 in materials and nothing else, $17.17 is left before postage and your time. Add your real postage, packaging and labor in the calculator to see your actual profit.
Frequently asked questions
What percentage does Etsy take per sale?
For a US seller without ads: 6.5% transaction fee plus 3% payment processing, so 9.5% of the order total including shipping, plus $0.25 per order and $0.20 per item for the listing. In most EU countries it is 6.5% plus 4% and €0.30 per order. If the sale comes from Offsite Ads, another 12% or 15% applies.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The transaction fee, payment processing and Offsite Ads all apply to the full amount the buyer pays, shipping included. Offering free shipping and building postage into the item price does not change the fees.
Do I pay VAT on Etsy fees?
If you are based in the EU or UK, Etsy adds VAT to its fees unless you have added a VAT ID. With a VAT ID, Etsy does not charge VAT, but you may have to account for it yourself under the reverse charge rules. If you are not VAT-registered, that VAT is a real cost. If you are, you reclaim it, but you owe VAT on your own sales. US sellers do not pay VAT on Etsy fees; Etsy collects US sales tax from buyers. Tick the matching box in the calculator; for your specific case, ask a tax advisor.
What are Offsite Ads and can I turn them off?
Etsy buys ads on search engines and social networks and can show your listings there. If someone buys from your shop within 30 days of clicking such an ad, you pay 15% of the order, capped at $100. While your shop is under $10,000 in sales over the past 365 days, you can opt out. Above that, participation is mandatory, and the fee drops to 12% for good. That is why the calculator always shows a minimum price for sales that come through Offsite Ads.
Does the calculator work outside the US?
Yes. Pick the country of your bank account and the calculator fills in the processing fee and VAT rate for it: the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands are built in. For any other country you can enter the rates yourself under “Adjust fee rates”.
